Good evening everyone.

I’m so sorry that I can’t be with you today to celebrate Keith’s birthday, as I’m away in the Caribbean. However, I couldn’t let this special occasion pass without sending my very best wishes.

Keith is one of those remarkable people whose life has been dedicated to something far greater than himself. Through his work with World Solidarity, he has shown an unwavering commitment to building peace, understanding and solidarity between communities, particularly across the Asian and Arab worlds. At a time when division can so often dominate the headlines, Keith has consistently chosen dialogue, friendship and humanity.

His quiet determination, integrity and belief that people can come together across differences have inspired so many of us. The world is undoubtedly a better place because Keith has stood up for peace, justice and international solidarity.

On a personal note, it has always been a privilege and a pleasure to spend time in Keith’s company. His warmth, wisdom and generosity of spirit make him someone people are naturally drawn to, and I know I’m just one of many whose life has been enriched by knowing him.

Keith, thank you for everything you have done, and continue to do, in bringing people together and reminding us of our shared humanity.

Happy Birthday. I hope you have a wonderful celebration surrounded by family, friends and everyone whose lives you have touched.
