Institute’s Patron addresses meeting commemorating Comrade Tongogara
On 23 September 2023 a meeting was held in London to commemorate Comrade Tongogara (born Danny Morrell), who passed away on 11 May 2023. Institute Director Keith Bennett delivered a speech in which he paid tribute to Comrade Tongogara’s lifelong dedication to the cause of socialist anti-imperialism.
“We remember with joy and gratitude what Tongogara brought and gave to the struggle for class and race liberation over exemplary decades.”
The meeting was hosted by the Free Mumia Abu Jamal Campaign.
An address was given by Cecil Gutzmore on Tongogara’s life and politics of his long time friend and Comrade Tongogara.
Messages of solidarity were delivered from a number of organisations and individuals, and tributes were made by his comrades and friends.
