Latin America and socialist internationalism study initiative
The following suggestions have kindly been made to the Institute for study of this question:
There are lots of fantastic/prescient writings by Latin American political and historic leaders, but since the central issue is independence ideologies, at this stage I would suggest three:
Simon Bolivar – The Jamaica Letter (1815) – https://www.fransamaltingvongeusau.com/documents/njno/GL.%2006.%20Bolivar,%20jamaica%20letter.pdf
José Martí – Our America (1891) – https://misiones.cubaminrex.cu/en/articulo/our-america-jose-marti
José Carlos Mariátegui – The Agrarian Problem and the Indian Question (1928) – https://www.marxists.org/archive/mariateg/works/7-interpretive-essays/essay03.htm
These three Latin American political leaders addressed the issue of nation formation and independence in three different historical moments in their own countries but all three adopting a continental scope.
